Hasegawa Bf-109F-2 finished! (updated 2/11/08)

This is Hasegawa’s 1/48 Bf-109F-2 from JG.54 “Grunherz”. A fun kit to build, though I admit I messed up a few things on it. I wouldn’t call it one of my best, as I finished the bulk of the kit a few years ago but pulled it out recently to finish it up. The antenna wire going down into the fuselage should be one station back, and I didn’t realize I had put it into the wrong place until after it was done- doh! [D)] Ah, well… guess I will have to build another one and do a better job next time! Thanks for looking! All comments/constructive criticisms welcomed.

A tropical and a winter scheme side-by-side:

I reallylike that one Frank. Very nicely done. The winter camo looks nice. The F is my favorite 109. Best lines in the group.

Gotta love that winter camo…niclely done!!

Jerry

Very nice!! You guys are slowly turning me into an Axis builder…Such good builds

You’ve executed the winter camo very nicely. I’ll be saving these as reference for my winter camo! [;)]

Looks great, you did an excellent job on the winter camo. It’s got a nice patchy/worn look to it like it should be. The rudder being moved it a nice improvement, makes your build different. I try to do something different with every one of mine as well to give it character. It surprising how moving a control surface, seat belts, and a little well place wear makes a big difference. About the only thing I see is usually (not aways) the gear doors were partly or completely removed to prevent snow/mud build up.

I’ll tell you what I have built at least 7 1/48 scale hasegawa 109’s and every time mess something up. It seems I have better luck with the 1/32 scale, every one of those I build come out great.

Nice work ! It shows your high skills !!!

Really nice builds !!!

Gee Frank! Nice work! You certainly make the most of your modeling time.

Great pics too![8-]

Exceptional work, buddy! [tup] One of the nicest winter camos I’ve ever seen, and I really like the contrast between it and the trop scheme. Those winter schemes are not easy to do. You nailed this one!

AWESOME!! Beautiful job Frank. I’d be happy with 1/2 your painting skills. [bow] [#toast] ART

Marc, Jerry, dirtball, arki, Phoenix, Greg, Nam, Mike, and Art-

Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate the feedback.

Marc- I agree with you, the “F” is the looker of the bunch. I’m really looking forward to doing another one.

Phoenix- That’s another one of the things I messed up! I had already painted and mounted the L/G before realizing I should have filled the door attachment holes in the gear legs. I figured I would rather have the doors on than the gaping holes where they mount.

You gentlemen are too kind! Lucky for me, the special camera setting I have (the one that hides the mistakes) was working today! [:-^]

Frank, that’s one of the nicer winter camo’s I’ve seen. Excellent job all around. I love the Grunherz birds and yours is a fine representation. It must feel good to finish off an older build and get it from the “has-been” back the “show-worthy” state.

Two thumbs up on this one.[tup][tup]

very nice frank no wonder you wanted the 109 as your desk top, some excellent weathering done[tup]

Great winter camo. Teriffic job to say the least.

Wow! Very nicely done! That’s a really great 109… that winter camo is awesome.

Can only echo the applause given. Excellent work Frank.

Regards, Rick

Wow great job. Nothing like a good looking 109! But jeeeez …that antenna!

LOL If you wouldn’t have said anything I don’t think anyone would have notice. I luv 109 I have alot of references and I had to look up what you where talking about. I looks awesome!

Zip

Very nice work on the two Bf-109s. Luftwaffe aircraft are not my forte, but I can certainly admire the craftsmanship. It is excellent.

Darwin, O.F. [alien]

Mucker, Ian, Don, Jon, Rick, Zip, and Darwin-

Thank you so much! Glad you like her. She really gave me some fits, though. I am glad to finally have it in the case alongside the Emil trop. And, I am looking forward to taking it my local annual show as the theme this year is “lucky numbers” and “13” has gotta be lucky!

This is one of two from my display case that I am reworking a little. The other is a 1/48 Tamiya FW-190D-9 that I was never quite happy with. I re-masked the canopy parts today, added the brake-lines and electrical wiring to the gear struts, and added a little weathering. Soon, she’ll be ready as well! [tup]

Fantastic Daywalker. I hope to get those german schemes down one day!
