Noreastcon?!?! Is that the show that the weekend of the 25th-27th I believe? Where abouts is that show? Not to familiar w/ the location of Schoharie NY.
Ah yes Bob C, he is one hellofa nice guy… Bob was our IPMS club President for years!!
Hey speaking of Noreastcon, would ya be willing to go to BuffCon. It’s on the 13th of April… I’ll be there…!! It’s located in Cheektowaga NY, right out side of Buffalo NY… It’s the biggest one day show in the North East
Maybe if time permits, I’ll do a road trip up to Noreastcon… And you are most welcomed!! Glad I could steer you in the right direction!!
I think I attended a BuffCon or two back in the 80’s! We’ll see how things shake out! Thanks for the invite!
Schoharie…just head east on the Thruway toward Albany…as you get near Schenectady, you’ll see signs for I-88…get on that going south and Schoharie will come up soon. You can also take a bit more direct route by taking route 20 from any point where you can get to it easily from the Thruway…(probably near Syracuse)
I believe there are good directions available at the NoreastCon website.
mike i wanted to wait just a bit and see what she looked like after a couple of days. to see if i missed anything. guy thankyou. yes i believe it will show very well under the canopy.
Wow, she is coming along very nicely… I have a few questions for you… What colours did you use for the upper fuselage??
Secondly, what colour did you use for the underneath portion? Just curious, had you ever thought of using the “Salt” method to achieve the chipped look? I like the affect thus far[tup]
Anywho, looking good my friend!! Lookin forward to more WIP’s
mike i used white ensign model enamels. the green is mitsu dark green, the underside is mitsu zero gray/green. the lighter is just a 50/50 mix of the dark green and white. the chipping is done with the salt method. very selective of where i put the salt though. tried to get the chipping on the surfaces that were prone to damage.
I hope I can make one suggestion, though. Where you have the chipped paint, be sure to srape away the decal away as well. Since marking were painted on top of fresh paint, they wouldn’t appear over chipped areas. So as the base paint chipped away, so would marking that were there as well.
Just to show a visual example of what I’m talking about
fred thanks. i appreciate the tip. this may not apply here though. i have a touch of chipping but none close to where the markings are. i wanted to give it a little bit of wear in areas that would have seen the wear first.
If you look at the last batch of pictures you posted, you’ll notice in the next-to-last picture, you have markings clearly over a chipped section.
Plus if you look at the picture of the tail, you’ll see that all the chipping looks like it comes to an end right at the point that the tail numbers start. I think a little bit of chipping along those edges would add to the realism.
But, those are just my suggestions, it’s your plane, so whatever you happy [:)]
