hasegawa a6m3 type 32 finished

well after careful deliberation (took me several weeks actually to come to this decision) the choice is made.

i am starting the hasegawa type 32 kit.

as for references other than flying forts and hawks i have more on the zeke than any other subject thanks to a friend in ireland. i am planning to just open the wrap and see where the mood takes me.

well the mood struck me to play a bit. so after looking at some pics (you know how i get with pics) i spent about four hours to do this.

just playing with this. got a future project in mind and want to see how this works.

joe

Looks like you’ve got a good start there Joe. The Hasegawa 1/32 scale Zero is a beauty of a kit. I have the A6M5c in my stash and out of the box the detail is awesome. A little scratch building and you will have and awesome model. Keep us posted there Joe.

Yo Joe,

What ya know, your doing a Zeke… I was thinking about doing one myself in the nearr future!! Laughs

What did you use to scratch the back postion?? Very nice indeed… Is she going to be based around the “Pearl Harbor” theme??

Looking great, Joe. Let me know if you are short on referneces…I have quite a bit on this plane.

Are you doing the IJN Grey sheme?

Joe’s doing a Zero? [:O]

OMG! Seriously, looks great Joe. After seeing Bob’s Robin, I know this one is gonna look amazing!

The old mitch zero. I like this fighter, have many in my stash but seem to build few. That kit should build up nice. It looks good so far. Have you decided on marking yet?

many many thanks for the kind words.

who’d a’thunk i’d be doing a zeke? well i have done a few of them. this is by far the most extensive project i have done on one.

mike i used evergreen rods, strips, tubes, and chunks for the scratching. pretty easy to do. no this wont be a pearl bird. wrong varient. but it gives me just a touch of a different build.

mucker thankyou for offer. for my future project i may take you up on that. not sure of the scheme yet. the kit offers three different ones. two grey one green/grey.

frank you seem shocked. i am a bit also. didnt think my mood would swing this way. but the last few weeks i have been drawn to this kit. i hope i can make this one live up to your praise.

phoenix not sure yet of the markings. going to be one of the ones from the kit but havent looked that far ahead.

again thankyou for the kind words. much appreciated.

joe

Ah, ok Joe… Thanks fer clarifing it up for me… Much appreciated!! Looking forward to the build and I may try what you are doing to one of my Zero’s… Aaaahh the ideas are coming to me[:O]

mike let me help you with your ideas.

first is prior to the black primer. this has all the construction done.

ok after the primer i shot base coats.

and now the end result. decals for the ip. detail painting done. light drybrushing to highlight.

well there you have it. the base coat looks a lot heavy to me but i cant change it now. could just be the pics. looking at it without maginfication it looks right.

comments/criticisms encouraged.

joe

I really like the cockpit! What colors did you use in the cockpit?

I think it’s phenominal, joe. I can tell a lot of effort and time went into this so far.

Looking forward to more progress reports!

Very nice work so far Joe. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Excellent work ! I’m really impressed with that IP. Are you using aftermarket instrument decals for those dials?

Edit - oops, reading comprehension … Just went back and re-read and see where you clearly indicate that you’re using decals for the IP.

thankyou for looking in. thankyou for your kind words.

scorpr2 the base coat is wem mitsubishi interior green. the area rear the cockpit is a mixture of enamel silvers and mm buffing steel plate. the colors to highlight were the little testor bottles.

muck to be honest after construction not much time was needed for the painting. about four hours construction and about two in the painting.

steven you found it. yes they are the kit decals for the ip. they shattered a bit going on but they finished decent.

again many thanks.

joe

Your IP looks great[tup] Look forward to more pics.

Roy

Yo Joe,

She is coming along very nicely… You had to add to my idea’s didn’t ya!! [:P] That is one thing I did not realize, that the kit comes w/ decal for the IP…

Now what kit# is this again?? Just wondering if all the Zero kits come w/ a decal for the IP… I mean the later ones…

I have the Ruffe as well… MMMmmmmm

Can’t wait to see the finished build!!
