Hasegawa 1/72nd Ju 188A-2 Complete

I don’t have a single Ju 88 or variant there of on the built shelevs, despite having plenty in the stash. So i thought it was time i corrected that and to start the collection i’m doing the Hase Ju 188A.

I am adding quite a few extras, starting witrh an Eduard Biged PE set. So far i have the cockpit together and painted and then added all the pre coloured PE.

Then got it added to the fuselage.

Now i have a bit of clean up to do along the seam. Won’t be easy as there is quite a bit of engraved detail which would be easy to fix.

[:O] 72nd scale, you say? The level of detail in those seatbelts is amazing! I’m in awe!

Fantastic work as always. Looking forward to rest of this WIP.

Your friend, Toshi

gonna have to follow this one, im assuming those are aftermarket seatbelts?

That’s Bish for you. He’s one of the 1/72nd masters here. I dunno how he does it either.

That’s an odd looking aircraft, never saw one before. Looking good, Bish.

Cheers guys.

Edwin, i really can’t take much credit for the seatbelts. They are pre coloured PE. There is some assembly of small parts on the lap belts, the trick is getting them to lay right as they are metal.

Tanker, yep, they come with the Eduard PEset. A lot of what you see in there is off the same set, including all the radio faces and instruments. I really could not paint to that level of detail no matter how small the brush.

Greg, it is a late war modification of the Ju 88. Many of the parts in the kit are common to the other Hasegawa Ju 88 kits, the main visible differance is the canopy but it also has longer wings.

Glad to have you following Toshi.

Asusual there will be a diorama for this which i hope will be a bit different as i am useing a Kora compass swing with it.

Oh man, I’m selling one of these on Ebay right now. Seeing yours look so good makes me want to keep it!

Bish,

The office looks fantastic. I’m looking forward to how this one turns out, but, I’m curious, where do the road wheels and tracks go? [;)]

Beautiful work here so far Bish, Like everyone else has said you really got them belts to lay down right.

I give you kudo’s for working with metal belts, are they the steel ones or are they brass. I tried a set of the steel ones and I couldn’t get them to bend right for anything. [:@]

John

Thanks guys.

Chad, its a really nice looking kit, what i would expect from hasegawa. I take it your clearing out a lot of your stash that isn’t Airfix.

I have actually never though about whether these belts are steel or brass, i have always asumed the latter. They are just the ones Eduard include in there sets. I have never had any major issues with them, while not as nice as fabric ones, i find they can be laid down faily well if you just have them flat.

NICE!

Was never a big fan of the 88…but I really dig the 188.

Side note…the 1/72 Revell 88 is a very nice kit…I’d say better the Hase.

I do like the 88 myself. And i agree, i have the Revell kit, just as well detailed if not better, better laid out on the sprues for other variants without having loads of un-used parts and a lot cheaper than the Hase kit. Just a shame Revell did’t do more versions, i know Hase has a lt of options, but an A-1 would be welcome.

That looks really good, Bish. It still amazes me that you do such skilled work in such a small size. You’re killing it again. I’ll be watching.

BK

I just checked the stash…believe it or not…I’ve got 6 88’s on hand!

2-Revell, 2-Hase, 1-Zvezda, in 1/72. And CyberHobby in 48.

I guess I am an 88 fan afterall.

I have got a couple of the Italeri ones as well as the Revell and a few more Hase kits. But i keep meaning to get hold of the Zvezda A-5, thats meant to be nice.

It has got a big gun sticking out the front, so its part way there [:D]

Thanks BK. I just wish i could get some skill in sanding without removing loads of detail. Or maybe i should try fitting the parts properly in the first place [:$]

Nice! I just started a 1/72 Lancaster and added PE belts. I find this scale challenging.

Thanks LD. As i always say, its what i am used to. I tend to get sensory overload when i am doing a 32nd aircraft.
