Hasegawa 1/72 F/A-18F Advanced Suer Hornet

I guess I was expecting more with this kit, it’s very modular, like the nose fuselage section is 3 pieces, no interior detail in intake fans, just a blank wall. Intakes are painful how they fit and cleaning up the seam joins. I’d go with an Academy kit nest time, however this was built for someone, so I had to go with this kit.

Looks really nice. I guess its one of those that is perfect for your display but not so much contest worthy

Just curious, but did the kit have any underwing stores (Fuel tanks, bombs, missiles) or did you choose to leave them off?

Good work on the Hornet. They look good when shown as a clean airframe, not seen often without ordinance. I have an old Hasegawa A/B in that scale that ended up on the shelf of doom soon after I started dealing with the intakes and multi part forward fuselage. I normally like Hasegawa kits but the 18s tend to have some weird part breakdown designs.

Yes it comes with drop tanks and a couple of air to air missiles, but this is the super hornet prototype, it’s a trial aircraft. And I built it as a commission, so this is how the customer wants it.
