I finished this for the Secret Santa group build and thought i’d share it in here as well. Strickly OOB. The decals were perfect, even though the wraparound section was a pain. It’s a little off i know, but it didn’t fit the best. The others had no problems. I used Tamiya Acrylics and Model Master dullcoat. Had a couple of seams i had to fill (1st ever time i did that!!!), but really no problems. Weathered using chalk powder. Let me know what you think.
Nice one, Mist. I think you handled the tricky camo pattern well. At some point I’d like to try an Italian plane, and your build provides some inspiration.
I have looked at this kit a few times but never took it home. Now seeing it built I may have to go get one

Not bad Mist. The camo pattern is hard to paint & yours shows some inconsistency, looking sharp in some areas & quite a bit of overspray in other areas. The white decal fuselage band is a bear & would have been better masked & painted rather than trying the decal.
Regards, Rick
Hey Mist,
Very very nice!! Great job on the weathering. I give it [tup][tup]!
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the feedback Rick. That’s exactly what i’m looking for. I was thinking about painting the band but i wanted to try the wraparound decal at least once. I also ordered some finer tips for my airbrush so the overs-spray problem should disappear also. Thanks to everyone who has commented. I feel as if i’m getting better considering this is only my 2nd completed build since getting back into the hobby

Mist, another thing that works is thinning the paint a little more. Take some old milk jugs and give them a nice smoke ring pattern, or a luftwaffe mottle. That way you can do all your fiddling on something that costs $3[:)]That being said, great work for your second model!
Mike Grant Decals has a special set of decals for the smoke rings (1/72 and 1/48). I have used them on a 1/72 and they worked very well.
I like it!You did a very good job on the interior and instrument faces! |

Nice job. I’ve built the JG77 version of the Macchi and I can say this kit is one of the best. I have three Macchi’s in my stash.
Nice work!!! I like your paint job! and is nice to see something a little diferent to the usuals mustangs, spitfire, bf109, fw190 and so on…
best regards
