Im in the process of building around a dozen different kits/dios that are all either pigs as regards fit, scratchbuilds that I dont have the info for some detail yet or just plain bad choices, like the Airmodel 1:48 vac GO 229A. Just 3 bits of shaped plastic, one of which is the canopy, that fit where they touch. Now my new years resolution to myself was to build and finish all of these BEFORE starting somthing new but Im getting itchy fingers and my eyes keep wandering to my stash. (Hey, now along with being a compulsive detailer, Ive realized Im a Kit Junkie with habit for buying bad stuff. Thats all I need)
Well anyway in my lot I have a Hase kit as above that looks like a good candidate for an out of the box build with just a change of markings to an overall RLM76 version that I have refs for. Has this kit any hidden vices?, remembering that this is intended as a “therapy” kit and as a return to relaxation in a hobby. Thinking about it I think Ive got an Eduard Etch fret thats marked Revell G10 but is obviously intended for the Hasegawa moulds........................ Am I beyond help. Here I am asking for info on the simplicity of of a build and already Im mentally into a detail set and a decal change. How long before I`m into sub-variants, field mods, maybe coversion in a luft 46 version- Did the Luftwaffy have an acrobatic team like the Red Arrows or Thunderbirds?
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllp!
All fun aside whats it like?

I’ve got two of those(had three, traded one for an Amtech P-51C), and they are great. I’ve almost finished one of them, and have yet to have a problem with the kit itself. The detail is pretty good, but I’m a stickler for detail on my 109’s, so I scratchbuilt some stuff for the interior. The fit is great, I don’t recall using any filler.
Good candidate for a more relaxing OOB build. No fit issues to worry about. The interior is a little sparse but adequate if you add some seat belts. Build it & enjoy.

You too are putting purfum on a pig. That academy kit is starting go give me fits. To make matters worse I just got a dragon fw190D-12. I now have 2 unbuilt ta 152’s, a 190D-11, 190D-12, and ta 152c all dragon. Great detail and accuracy but all a real pain in the butt to build and get to look right. I know more than a few people who have started these kits and just given up.
The 1/48 hasegawa G-10 is an excellent kit. I have built 2 so far. As you probably already know the G-10 version has a wide varitation in features and the hasegawa kit gives you some choices. If you are building a “standered” G-10 with the Db605D and MW 50, and standered FuG 25A IFF and FuG 16ZY mast then as far a accuracy goes the only thing missing is the oil sump cover. Other than that small detail It’s comes out of the box very accurate. It builds very easy and accepts added detail with little fuss.
As far as your compulsive detailer issues I can’t help you there, I have the same problem. I am to the point where I rarely build much OOB anymore. I still want to add junk the the 262 and have to stop myself. I am always changing stuff on the kit in one way or another. I can’t say I’ve even heard of some of those models companies you are building. From what I have seen of your work you are a excellent modeler and if anyone can pretty them up is you.
Finally lack of info. What do you need to know. Where you the one who posted those pics of the odd ball 109’s eariler? If so I’ll look into them for you. I have alot of resources as far as reich aircraft go, not to mention I personally have thousands of WWII aircraft most of which are reich aircraft. The problem I have run into as of late is alot of new info and pics have surfaced but book writers and others have copyrighted them so I can’t display them on any “electronic transfer or forums”. Like daywalkers ta 152C. I had one pic that was not coryrighted but had 2 books with 5 new pics. all I could do is give him the pic I had and refer him to the book. Alot of new info on the Ta 152 projects have been found in the last 2 years as well as the many late fw varients.
Hi Pheonix,
Yes I know how you feel about those Trimaster/Dragon Kits. I have just two left to build, one is the Bachem Natter with engine, thats so simple that even they cant muck it up, but the other is Me 262V056 which after the other three 262s of theirs Ive built is either going to to stay in its box or the parts relevant to the 56 added to a Tamiya kit and the rest used for spares. But the REALLY ANNOYING thing about this manufacturer is that their kits look really good in the box, the detail quality is excellent and looks to be worth the fairly high cost that they still command, but try to stick two parts together…
It was me that posted the oddball 109s. They are the result of hours spent late into the night chasing details I require on the net. My biggest holdup at the moment is the 109Z that Im building from 2 Airfix 109Fs. As far as I know, there are no photos of this, so Im searching for images showing the 609 undercarridge attachment but with no luck at present. The headache in this conversion has been the middle wing and converting the two outer wings to give the revised undercart position for the Z. This has involved a lot of building masters that might be used to produce a conversion kit but thats still in the production stage. Several years ago I built this in 1:72 using two Italeri kits and fudged around the undercart issue but a bigger scale demands a more clearer solution.

Thanks for your input,

That’s exactly it. IMO Dragon makes some of the best kits in terms of detail, accuracy, and capturing the look, but that fit between parts is something else. It’s a unique fit problem inherent only to there kits. Unless you have actually tried to assemble one yourself it’s hard to explain. you know they go together but getting them there is a major undertaking. I have not tried any of there newer stuff. I do have the 1/48 me262 mistel kit, but have yet to build it.
I like that grayallum, you did a nice job. one of these days I’ll have to try the dio thing. As far as the Z goes, if I remember correctly they did started a prototype Z but it was destoryed before it as done. To my knowledge no pics exist, but I am sure there are line drawing plans for it becasue I have seen them. All I have on hand as far as pics goes is this one below. I have info on both the H and Z varients but nothing that will answer your question. this is probably no help to you but I 'll post it anyway. If I find that drawing I’ll sent it to you.

There is a web site that might be of interest to you it won’t tell you how to build but it might help you with the colour scheme. Having said that you may have been to it. The site is http:// www.jg300.de/
