Here’s my second entry for the North African Group Build. The Henshel Hs129 was the only Luftwaffe aircraft designed specifically as a Tank killer. The basic design concept lives today as the A10 Warthog. The Hs129 was used extensively on the Eastern Front & in Africa. The model depicts an aircraft that crash landed at El Adem, Libya, in early 1943. The aircraft was then captured by British forces & is fairly well documented in period photographs.
The kit was built OOTB with PE seat belts added. Painting was done with ModelMaster & Floquil enamels. The green blotch camo was done freehand using a Badger 100LG AB. Light weathering was done using artist oil washes & pastels.
Hope you enjoy the peek, I had fun building her. Comments or questions welcome.
Which kit is it? I built the AMT one several years ago. Tried to do the North Africa squiggle camo, but in the end I reverted to a 79/80/78 paint scheme.
I built the old ESCI kit several years ago. At least I think it was ESCI. [%-)]
There was just something about the plane that I thought was really neat looking at the time. Still is a good looking plane.
Great build, Rick. Nice camo scheme. [tup]
Excellent build Rick, rather pugnacious looking beast isn’t it. Not unattractive by far but it has it’s own deadly beauty. I love the camo scheme. Thanks for sharing.
I have the revell germany copy of this kit and I hope that mine turns out as good looking as yours did, Great job on the Desert Camo scheme. I was toying with the idea of painting mine up like that when I get around to building it, I think that you might have just helped jump that kit forward on my list of things to do soon.
