after i get out of school,i want to go to college, westpoint,i just want to know IF IT IS HARD,SO I CAN BE PREPARED,[|)]
Striker, that’s a commendable goal, the Academies are rather tough to get in, but if you keep your grades up and your nose clean you’ll have a good shot at WP. GOOD LUCK, I hope you make it. [:)] Bob
Start writing your congressman now. About the only way to get in is a recommendation by a congressman. Doesn’t mean you have to be in political circles though. Keep your grades up and write as many letters as you can telling them about yourself, why you want to go and your academics. Just my suggestion. Maybe someone else has more scoop.
Good luck Panzer Striker, sounds like it might be tough.
Panzer Striker, also realize it is not just grades. They are also looking at athletic and extracurricular achievement. Sports, activities and clubs, and positions of leadership all help.

Dude, do it for yourself and no one else. It’s (reportedly) a serious bizz-atch to get through WP. If your eduation is more important to you than a strictly military career, then consider ROTC or OTS instead. You can major in whatever you want in a regular college and then have a “fall-back” in case you want a nonmilitary career later on. I started out in NROTC, then decided quickly on that I HATED being yelled at. I’m too much of a wiseass and independent to tolerate that life. I went on to do something fairly nonmilitary with my life (general surgery; though penetrating trauma is a big part of our training) and couldn’t be happier that I had a useful degree to market myself. However, if you’re bent on West Point, then start your pushups now. Talk to people who have military careers and make sure it’s what YOU want. Good luck either way! Life’s hard and too short. Live happy.
