Has anyone ever built this kit? It is 1/48. I have had it in the stash for a while and thinking about starting it. Looks fairly nice and possibly a good build OOB. Any advice or pointers?

I’ve got it, haven’t built it, but I do remember I bought it on the recommendation of someone who had. It was awhile ago.
Just checked my database—no further info. [:(]
Sorry,
I’ve only built the old Monogram kit with those markings. I’ve got a couple of the Tamiya P-47 D’s but no Hasegawa. Good luck with it! Maybe someone will check in soon with some tips!
I’ve built several of the kits in various markings. It’s an excellent kit in most respects & was the best Jug available in 1/48 until Tamiya released theirs a few years ago. It’s a pretty easy, straight forward build. The main area to be cautious on are the join of the wing to fuselage, it’s easy to get a step in the join if you don’t very carefully dry fit. The only other issue is the fuselage profile which is too deep in the belly. It’s not that noticeable, but if you mount a center line drop tank you’ll see what I mean. I’ve built all of mine without the center line drop tank. The decals are typical Hasegawa, OK but not great. You can get a nice model OOTB with only adding seat belts, but there are tons of AM detail sets available if you want to juice it up.

Thanks for the advice Rick
I wouldnt mind maybe adding a photoetch set to this bird, I was thinking of the Eduard set. Also want to replace the gun barrels. I remember seeing some aftermarket barrels some where but cant remember the company name now. Any ideas?
I suggest adding a resin wheel well set for the Hase. kit. Aires makes a very fine set, and is a huge improvement over the kit parts.

The Eduard PE detail set is very nice. Will give you a much improved Instrument Panel as well as the needed seat belts & other goodies. I’m not sure about AM blast tubes ( those are not the gun barrels sticking out of the wing [:)]), I just replace the kit blast tubes with tubing.

Modelbuilder-Click the banner below and go to the US gallery to see the Hasegawa jug with Eduard set and steel tubing for the blast tubes I used the Aires wheel wells instead if the PE though.
Thanks again Rick

Very nice job on the P-47. Where did you get the steel tubing? Would an AM wheel bay be necessary? I dont want to go too far with AM sets. Just want to build a nice show quality model but keep the cost rather reasonable
