I’d like to get my feet wet with 1/48 scale with the same Tiger I that I did in 1/35th when I picked up this hobby again after a 30 year hiatus. Kinda’ sentimental aren’t I. Anyway, I could use any input I can get. Was there a kit review in FSM?, probably should have looked first, even if there is I’d like to hear what you guys have to say…
Yes, about 5-6 years ago and it is a pretty decent model, very solid, but has some molded on details that are separate in the Skybow/AFV Club Tiger. This is a good site to see a review of both the Tamiya and AFV Tiger:
Rob,
5-6 years ago?! I didn’t realize the kit was that old…thanks for the website info.
Unless you already have or are set on the Tamiya, I suggest you build the Skybow version instead. Here is a review compairing it to the Tamiya kit: http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/48/misc/tiger1/tiger1early.htm
The Tamiya Tiger was released around late 2003 or so followed by the M4 Sherman, less than 5 years, not old but not brand new either. Still, it is a decent kit.
