Has anyone built Hobbycraft's 1/72 F-16C/D Falcon?

I picked this up from my LHS and started it yesterday (model# HC1327). The molding seems very thick and I had to actually carve some of the pieces to make them fit (particularly where the wings fit to the body.) Is this typical of older kits, or is this not a good kit for any time? Any advice on this build would be helpful as I haven’t undertaken a build like this before. I am looking forward to sharpening my skills on this bird.

Thanks.

Mike

I can’t say what about the Hobbycraft kit, but if you REALLY want a great F/A-18 kit, the new one from Academy is for you. Sublime fine panel detail, nearly perfect fit, and even a reasonably well detailed cockpit and seat (a rare thing for 1/72.)

He’s looking for a Viper, not a Bug [;)]

And no, the Hobbycraft kit of the F-16 is pretty useless. Unless you got the one with the nice decals. And even they are only ok. I’d just turn it into a paint cow you can try paint schemes or something.

Oh, POOP! I totally read that post wrong. [:I]

Well, I DO like the Academy F-16 in that scale, but this is where Habu12 and I disagree. I think its a great kit, but it has a couple of shape flaws that detract. The detail is unbelievably crisp and the gear bay detailing alone is worth it.

I have never built a Hobbycraft kit, I don’t sell them, people don’t ask for them, and that’s where my knowledge ends.

…but you really should build the Academy F/A-18. Its a nice kit.

I agree on the F-18 kit. Must get. The F-16 though, the RoG is tops of the pops. A more accurate kit for a far better price.
