Hartmann Tulip Decal Help Needed

I’m in the process of applying the tulip decals on my 1/48 Hasegawa ME-109 and have a question. There is a small air vent on the engine cowling just below the exhaust stacks. The decal is positioned right on top of this vent. Any suggestions on how to lay over this vent?

Thanks

Tom

Pics would help. You might have to either cut the decal, if its an opening, so the vent isnt covered by the decal, or soften the decal to make it slip in to place.

Tom,

I have not actually built one with those markings, but have run into similar problems applying roundel decals to Spitfire wings. They have a very prominant bump for the aileron linkage, and the decals never want to fully snuggle down over them. What I usually do is cut out the area that would go over the bump, so that the decal lays flat around it. Then, I use some touch up paint to paint the bulge to match the decal. After a clearcoat, you cannot even tell. HTH! [tup]

Frank,

Thanks for the tip. I was considering something along a similar line of thought, cutting the decal in a manner to allow it to conform to the protrusion. It sounds like your idea may be easier and have better results.
