Hard to find kits

Does anyone ever find any SPH kits in 1/35 of m-109, m-110 or any of the “Old” West German AFV’s?
How about any of the French AFV’s? AMX-10, 30 etc.?
Another question, does anyone know if the store manager of a Hobby Lobby or a Michaels can “special order” kits, or is it only what they have on their stock list? Sorry, I can get quicker answers here than going to these places. I seldom get to go. Why go when you’re broke? ( Firefighter )
These are the only hobby stores near me. Thanks for any help.

P.S. I don’t shop or buy on-line, so my options are limited.

ummm I would think that if their suppliers carry the companies that make the specific kits they may order them in, they may charge you extra (as in a few experiences of mine) because of the need to order maybe 3 or 4 at a time, but if you think it’s worth it, go and ask that manager!

I get most of my old kits off Ebay. I made a 75 mile drive to the nearest Hobby Lobby and was disappointed by their offerings. The manager wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about his model selection and it showed on the shelf. If you can’t buy on line I’d go ahead and ask the manager, nothing ventured nothing gained. With the French AFV’s you may have trouble, I know our local hobby store (a mom and pop) doesn’t carry any Heller kits. They’ll order pretty much anything from the other major brands.

A couple of my LHS do carry some of the Heller kits. I have also seen the early Italeri Leopards and some RoG Leopards and Marder 1A3. One store also had the Tamiya Marder 1A2. I have tried to order from Michaels and Hobby Lobby and they weren’t too helpful about ordering what they don’t already carry. Your best bet is probably Ebay or a model show/swap meet.

Like Sparnicus, I get my older and rarer kits off EBAY… just got a DML Bishop and an Encore wz.34

you can find ANYTHING on ebay… there is a LHS here that I have seen from time to time with discontinued kits.

I get a lot of kits off of eBay. I’ve probably got an extra M109A-something kicking around. I really don’t think of any of the Testors/Italeri 109 series are HTF or rare.

I appreciate your answers. Maybe I can get those store managers on my side. I’m sure I’m not the only modeler around who would like to see more variation in selection.
