Hard lesson to learn

I’m building the Galaxy Quest, and lighting it. Being relatively new to modeling, I thought it would be simple. Now I’ve learned to my peril that I didn’t allow enough room for the wiring, had to cut grooves in the interior of the model, remove pins, ect ect.

The upshot is that I’ve got large gaps everywhere, and can expect a mammoth session with putty before it even starts to look like a starship.

Lesson learned. Dry assemble many times. Don’t assume wires will reach everywhere. Keep plenty of putty. Oh well.

Good lesson to learn, and at least youve learned from it.

“The only mistakes are ones we dont learn from”

Good lesson learned. My first attempt at lighting is still in a box being ignored.

My lessons learned… Don’t Be Cheep.

don’t be cheep, change the darn exacto blade, you can’t stretch it out and cut clean lines.

Don’t be cheep and use super old paint in an airbrush… but new paint {or a new airbrush!}

don’t be cheep - get some GOOD brushes.

It costs more to be cheep

Don’t feel too bad. My 1st lighting project, on a Jedi Starfighter, is still sitting in a box too, with all its wires and LED’s. I spent probably two months, on and off, digging out trenches and cutting and re-cutting wire to fit. I finally moved to another project just to take my mind off of it. I’m almost ready to go back to it. Just one or two more “normal” kits. LOL
