hard edge? soft edge? im confused?

i have heard evryone talking aboout it lately and then it hits me i dont know what anyones talking about? can you expalne the differences?

Ref camo paint schemes I presume? 'Hard edge" is where the lines between colors are defined and sharp, thus “hard.” soft edge are the exact opposite and are usually accomplished by lifting the mask slightly off the surface to be painted. Using a variation of methods rooled playdo, taping sprur tobottom of mask, etc. to do so. It creates a “soft” effect where the different paints meet.[2c]

Kinda like the difference between a soft right or a hard right at one of those always-an-adventure 6-way intersections in Chicago…[:D]

OK, that didn’t help…

How ‘bout some pics to help illustrate what didfal is talkin’ about…

Hard Edge as in between the Sea Blue and White on this SB2C Helldiver, achived via masking.

Soft Edge as in between the Intermediate Blue and Sea Blue on this TBF Avenger, no masking, but more delicate airbrush work.

hey thanks alot guy and Quagmyre nice model i like your avenger alot!

Hmmmmm…trying hard to differentiate between the “hard” red crosses and the “soft” red crosses there Quagmyre!!! [(-D][(-D][(-D]

I’m seeing a red crosses in your signiature Chris. Darn Intahrnet. Checked my ftp server… the pics are there… something between here and there. Again… Darn Intahrnet!
