Hanger 2.0 FINISHED!

This morning my new airplane hanger was finished, it is made out of a balsa wood frame on which plastic was added to make the walls, doors, and roof.
The camouflage colors and pattern is not meant to copy any specific hanger, all German hangers were different from one another so I copied the colors and styles of hanger camouflage that I had seen in various pictures of late war airfields.

Matrixone, you never cease to amaze me…beautiful work!

Regards, Dan

Thanks Dan!

Very happy to be done that hanger, it took longer than I thought it would to finish.
Now I can just build ‘‘normal’’ models like everybody else.

Matrixone

NIce work on the hanger. Glad to see your work again.

Thanks Keyworth!
I might make a bomb damaged hanger sometime next year.

Matrixone

Thank you John!

I have a couple more pics that I will post later today

hey matrixone building hangers for my models is one of the tasks at hand right now i have to build 4 of them!
so i geuss for so people “normal” models are hangers and and other scrath built models!
owell i love the cammo and the design of it did you built from so sort of plans or just imagination??

Thanks for the kind words Richard, Warren, and duckman!

First of all my comment about ‘‘normal’’ models was in no way intended to offend anyone who scratchbuilds buildings, armor, figures, or aircraft.
After building this hanger I have even more respect now than I did before for those modelers who make detailed buildings, groundwork, trees, and the vehicles for their dioramas. Just because I don’t normally build structures such as hangers, it does not make them ‘‘abnormal’’.
Duckman, I spent hours looking through my books for pictures of hangers, very few good pictures of just the hangers seem to exist. Most interesting pictures of late war aircraft show little of the hangers, so I did not try to copy any specific hanger, what I built was a ‘‘SWAG’’ hanger using ‘‘TLAR’’ plans.
The camouflage colors and pattern were more closely based on photos of wartime hangers.

Matrixone, the hangar looks great and it gives a real feeling to your dio.
Excellent job also with the camo.
Keep sending

Pedro

matrixone it looks awesome.

joe

Another fine interesting build. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you very much Pedro, joe, and Chris!

Next year I might attempt a different hanger that has bomb damage to it.
But right now I have several figures on my work table that need to be finished before I start my AA defense models which are the 8 ton half track with 37mm, Panzer Ostwind, and Wirbelwind. At the same time I will be working on a Monogram 1/48 scale Do 335 to be built as a Luft’46 nightfighter.

Matrixone

THe extra figs and AA guns will add alot more detail to this project. Like it doesnt have enough![8D] Can’t wait to see it with the finished extras, it will look better than it does now, and it looks pretty freakin good man![^][:D][:O]

Thanks for the comments John!
I have four of the Amtech Ta 183s that would look good parked in front of that hanger, I need to build at least one of them sometime this year. Photographing some of those Luft 46 types will be interesting with that hanger in the background.

Matrixone

nice job on the hanger!!!it looks real cool with the camo and all the planes! you should have flack guns thier too it looks cool without !just a tip

Thank you stukah!
I will be adding a few AA weapons in a couple weeks, but first I need to finish painting some figures that I have been working on.
I’ll post a couple pics when the figs and AA are finished.

Matrixone
