I have an Italeri German Halftrack the one with the rocket laucnhers on top. It has an option to open 2 of the storage bins on the side of the halftrack.
What goes in there. Im not anticipating putting this in a diorama but I want to put something in there i jusst dont know what.
You can never go wrong with helmets, ammo cans, food storage, helmets, other personal gear. Academy and Tamiya both have good accessory kits for this kind of stowage. Anything that makes the vehicle look like it has a crew. As long as you don’t put in the wrong kind of ammo (like tank rounds) or from the wrong war, the options are nearly endless. The germans also utilized captured enemy supplies as well. HTH
You have the nebewerfer launcher atop the Opel maultier. Its rockets firing would have quite the back shot of gasses – I would be very logical about how much if any, gear to put on the sides – who wants all their gear burned up?
The problem is that there isn’t anywhere else to put personal gear other than in the storage bins. There is a small rain gutter above each bin which would help deflect the rocket back-blast away from the door, but one would think your clothes would still come out smelling awful at least. I wonder if there are any sort of seal on the doors?
I don’t know how much interior detail the kit provides, but there is a rifle rack for 3 rifles on the left side of the rear compartment, just above the rocket stowage racks. A MP 43 or 44 would be fine for a late war scenario, but the rack is for regular Kar 98s. A MP 40 would probably be more likely than a MP 43/44, as it stows more easily inside a armored vehicle. Don’t put it in the outside bins though, they would be kept inside. I don’t know about the Maultier, but the SWS Panzerwerfer carried 2 Panzerschrecks inside to ward off any pesky tanks that might wander by. There is an odd little flap on one of the rear doors, which has a triangular bracket mounted to it on the inside. It appears to be a mount for a MG-34 or 42, probably to cover one’s tail as you make a hasty retreat!
