Anybody ever built a model ship or plane for mounting on a wall plaque. You know the kind of thing, with only half the model showing and maybe the wings cut off halfway? A good way of displaying and buying more kits if you are short of space. Aircraft kits lend themselves to this as they supplied in two halves anyway. I am thinking of giving it a go. Even car kits with careful surgery !
Half hull ships have been around for hundreds of years and are still very popular. I don’t think I’ve seen anybody do a plane, car, or tank in 1/2. Thanks for sparking my interest. This may be a new challange.

I have done small yachts before and it got me thinking why not other forms of transport as well. Something a little different that takes up less space.A good Idea for gifts as well. A motorbike would be a good challenge.LOL
Iolok-that’s a good idea, it’s been popular with duck decoy collectors for years.
A great idea if you’re having a hard time choosing between two paint / decal schemes… Do both !
For an A/C - the tough part would be splitting the canopy and a three or five bladed prop.
Try mounting the half model on a mirror … I have seen this done with ships and you really have to look closely at first to realize it is not a complete hull!

Hmmmm. Half-models on mirror. Sounds like a cool thing to do.
Wow, those really are GREAT ideas!!! Do I see a new project on my bench in the future…hmmmmm…
I did that with the Enterprise-D once! [:)]
Interesting Idea thanks for sharing it Jim.

It might have been in FSM but someone did a navy bird this way. I liked it. It was different.
