Anyone know if a company that makes decals for HAL-3 Seawolves Hueys in 1/48 or 1/35? I used to work with a couple of Seawolves and would like to build one of my 1/35 MRCs as a HAL-3 bird. Thanks!
No decals out there that I know of. However, I built one out of an MRC 1/35 C model. I used generic NAVY decals left over from something else and stenciling common to all UH-1’s from the MRC kit. For the distinctive SeaWolf Emblem on the nose, I copied it as clipart off the SeaWolf website and printed it out as a decal on white decal paper. It came out great. Here is the website. http://www.seawolf.org/ Great site with lots of referance photos and list of helos by tail number and type, weapons config photos, etc
Good luck…
Gino,
Thanks for the info. I figured that’s what I would have to do to make the HAL-3 crest. Did you use a laser jet or ink jet printer to make the decal?
Carl
I have an ink-jet printer. A Lexmark X-125, does a pretty good job.
Superscale did a set in 1/48th scale

Gino, Thanks for the gouge. [:D]
John, was this a while back when Superscale made the sheet? I’ve heard rumors of it but could never find it.[xx(]
Dragonfire
It’s been awhile since they did that sheet, I used it in the late 80’s, I don’t think they still have it out but check around on hobby website’s, also check any LHS and see if they might still have a set. I remember some of the Seawolf’s crew’s going through training at Ft Rucker in mid 68, They had to show all us Army guy’s up at inspections.

John,
Thanks for the direction. No joy on my end. Until a new sheet comes out, looks like it’s a “home brew”.[:)]

Good luck, sorry I couldn’t be more help.

John,
You were plenty of help.[:)] You did confirm the rumor that a sheet with HAL-3 markings was out there before. Scuttlebutt no longer.[:D]
Carl
Superscale and ESCI also did decals for seawolves in 1/72 scale…
What would be a suitable kits(s) for this bird in 1/72? I see “C” models out there, but they don’t look correct for the photos I have.
Seawolf’s used both B and C model HUEY’s they got from the Army, most used was the B.

I know this post is ten(10) years old, but I have an answer for any future inquiries there is a company called Fireball Models that sells the “Seawolves” in three scales as well as decals for other helicopters, they used to sell conversion parts also but they don’t any more but don’t worry I have an answer for that as well. The webb adress for Fireball models is www.fireballmodels.info the guy who owns it is a guy named Joe Osborn. As for resin helicopter parts there is the Cobra company they have many parts in the three scales. I don’t have a webb adress for them, but can find them with a google search.
