MAN THAT IS THE PRICE, I KNOW THEY MAKE IT IN 1/87 SCALE FROM WALTHERS ,IT A METAL KIT YOU HAVE TO PUT TOGETHER, THAT ONE RUNS ABOUT 75.00

The Accurate Armour one is the M1070 i looked at getting it but way out of my spending limits… It would be a awsome kit to build…$$$$$$$$$$$$ but nothanks
Hopefully some other companys like Trumpeter will put a plastic one out one day. I am currently building a Faun SLT HET which is carring a Marder M1A2.

in iraq most of the heavy stuff is moved by local guys as everyone down there already knows ( that is for the opsec cryers ) , so if you wanted to, you could use a 1/35 scale truck of any type.

Redleg, beg to differ. Most US Army equipment is being transported by HETs. Everyday supplies are carried on contracted civilian trucks. Military equipment is still carried by HET. We just sent another HET company from Ft Irwin (don’t worry, public knowledge) to help out in hauling equipment.

Gavinray1, by the way, a little tip, don’t post in all caps. That is seen as yelling on the forums. Regular sentance case is much easier to read and looks better.

when we moved in and out, we used local highers to drive our tracks ( on flatbeds ) from our FOB to Kuwait, i luckily didn’t have to go, but my buddies that did, man they went nuts on those drivers, they apparently suck at driving!
they did use some HET’s to drive some from the FOB to LSA aniconda, but i think it was mostly the armor unit we got stuck being attatched to?
I’ll get some of the pictures from my buddies to post up to show you guys, you’ll crap your pants when you see these trucks and the actually did make it too!

We used local trucks to haul our connexes in and out of Iraq. I have seen HET’s with connexes as well. I have also seen local trucks hauling mil vehicles while in country.

We had a mixture of SuperHETs and local trucks to carry our tanks.

sorry i just got a new keyborad, my son got it wet and didnt work right

Yeah, the AA offering is the only game in town. I’d love to get this kit, but way too pricey. HOpefully Trumpeter is listening, and will come out with this beastie.

This got me to thinkin. I could build the most accurate and realistic model of what the seabees use for transport and I would get laughed off the forums. Basically we would get an old International or Paystar from DRMO, weld sheets of metal to anything not plastic, throw kevlar on anything not metal, and although they deny it, I am pretty sure they remove the suspension and steal about half the cylinders out of the engine. The you take your Hillbilly armored truck (either 15t or 20t) and find a load that is at least 50T and hit the road. You know, actually it would be kind of a cool model. Anyone know where I can find a Paystar 5000?

The modern Dragon Wagon…I’d love to get one of these someday, though I too will hold out the hope that somebody produces a plastic kit of this monster.

HeavyArty built one of these for a customer of his, if my memory serves me, and it’s gorgeous!

Guess who hauls what has changed since I was there during OIF 1 with 3 ID. We used all HETs.

Thanks for the plug. I buuilt one a few months after this post was up. Here it is:

More here.

It was a great kit. Came wth all you needed; PE, decals, wiring for details, etc., etc. As it should for over $500!! Like I said, awesome kit, but I still don’t think it is worth $500. Glad I didn’t pay for it. Was fun to build though.

Same during my tour. I escorted convoys of contracted haulers with Brads and M1s. I also seen the H.E.Ts being used in a cargo role.

The AA kit is just too pricey. If I may suggest, try doing the Trumps Faun transporter & if you want you could do the Leo for the cargo as well. There are some AM parts available that would make this build worthwhile & less expensive.[2c][:D]
