did anyone make any good gyrocopter kit?
can you post a pic?[:p]
if, by Gyrocopter you mean an Autogyro, then the only one i know of is the James Bond ‘Little Nellie’ kit by Airfix. However, I read an article a few years ago on how to improve this (70’s I think) kit & decided i could do better. So I made my own in 1/25th scale.
Start with a Revell VW Beetle engine, lots of round sprue or rod and some good spares boxes.
It’s not that hard. sorry, I don’t have a picture of it, it’s at home in England.
You could try searching for Wing Commander Ken Wallis (retd) on the net. He built ‘Little Nellie’ ( star of the James Bond film, You Only Live Twice) & many since. There is an Autogyro museum at or near his home in England.

Williams Brothers made a very nice autogyro kit. I believe it was in 1/48th scale
but I could be wrong about that. The bad news is Williams Brothers went out of
business fairly recently. The good news is you can probably still find the kit if you
look hard enough.

I’ve scratched built a couple from the spares box over the years, but they too became spare parts by and by. I always made them in the “Benson” (Ken Brock) style, which were patented as “gyrocopters”. Sure would be nice if there existed at least a 1/35 of one, but I couldn’t possibly foresee a manufacturer realizing a profit in such a venture, but you never can tell. I’ve always thought a Homebuilt/Amateur Experimental model series would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.
A fellow who use to hang out with us at the airport, Frank Brown, owned a Benson B8M (with the handlebars), and had that thing in the air almost as much as it was on the ground!
I’m partial to the “UFO” myself… [:)]
Take care,
Frank
Williams Brothers makes a 1/48th Pitcairn Autogyro kit (I have it). As mentioned above, supposedly they went out of business, but you can still find the Williams Brothers kits in a lot of hobby shops. Good luck on your search.
