Gym Bag

I’m extremely new to dioramas and need some help. I’m working on a '74 Gremlin, 1/24 scale, a car that is sort of prominent in a few scenes of my favorite show, Justified. I need to construct some type of gym or duffel bag, not really a suitcase. I’ve tried to find something online, any tips? Thanks.

Qood question.

there’s a neat modeling pruduct called Milliput. It’s a two-part epoxy that is like soft clay.

Like most epoxies, there’s a separate catalyst (stick) and resin (stick). Cut off two equal little chunks and knead them together in your fingers. Shape the blob into what you main bag body looks like.

It hardens in a couple of hours and can be sanded with a nail shaping stick, and painted.

Add straps and what-not with aluminum foil or similar, painted.

I tend to have a photo of what I’m trying to make in front of me, rather than relying on what I think the subject looks like.

Have fun,

As Bill said, they’re pretty easy to make with putty. I’ve also made them in the past with white-glue soaked tissue, wrapped around a shaped core of plastic, paper, foil, or simply more tissue.

Also…if you happen to have access to (or interest in) Revell’s nice ‘snap tite’ Ford Expedition Police SUV, it comes with two well-molded duffles as accessories.

Cheers

I think you have your answers. Both Bill and Greg have provided excellent suggestions.
