I need to get myself one of these, the first time I saw one of these in 8th MS Team I went nuts and always wished they would make one!!! Here is a more detailed look at this monster, go to www.dalong.net, once there on the top click on ETC, scroll down three sets until you see the caption 1/35 UCHG, it will be on the bottom right of the set.
My two cents… I build armor and sci fi kits and have done so since the 1970s. Been spoiled by many years of Tamiya fit and excellence…that being said, I have to say that Bandai makes the most brilliantly-engineered kits that I have ever built! Their Batmobiles were incredibly complex and fit like a dream.
I’ve been lucky enough to built (or be building) all of their sci fi U.C. Hardgraph series and the fit, detail, and value is also top notch. That being said, $100.00 IS pricey for any kit, but given how much I have enjoyed this series of kits, I would consider saving up for it. Even Tamiya, Dragon, Bronco, Tasca and Trumpeter armor kits are often priced in the $60.00 plus range, or higher these days… These kits ain’t getting any cheaper!
By the ways, I know absolutely nothing about the animated TV series that these kits based on — my interest in these kits stems from my love of armor and sci fi kits. The fact that the kits are 35th scale also was another big plus for me — this allows me to utilize all sorts of cool armor stuff.
Cthulu, if I can ask, where did you buy the kit? Can’t wait to see this sucker built up and posed next to an Abrams or Leopard!
Your insaine for buying that. The kit is absolutley gorgeous but its so expensive, here are shots of what it looks like.
A bit of background about it. In the storyline, the earliest gundam series’ are in the One Year War, which is the first showing of Mobile Suits, Zeon creating the first, the federation follows suit after, but slowly. In the gap between when zeon starts using them, and the federation design their own, the federation developed and modified many weapons they had for infantry and armor combat to anti MS roles, the EFGF M61A5 (Type 61) being one of them, they were totally outclasses and turned out to be pure cannon fodder.
Latley There has been a new series produced, 100% in 3D, very gorgeous 3D actuially, about the one year war that wasnt shown in the origional cartoons, alot focusing on and around their new hardgraph line of kits in 1/35th scale.
As far as that comment about being spoiled by tamiya’s fitting, you really need to try some bandai kits, I have never seen such clean and perfect fittings in all my life
Really looks like a little bits of an M60, M48, and Merkava model thrown together…it surprises me that more guys don;t just kitbash their own “Sci-Fi” tanks, being that “anything goes” in truth?
Well, the issue with that is if your a fan of the series, lets say, gundam for example, its a good example, there are design patters that are EXTREMLY obvious within the diffrent factions. If you know your series you can look at any mech, even if you never saw theone its from, and tell what faction it is from, and generally, what era as well. There are distinct characistics about everything in gundam that makes it hard to scratch build because everything does not go, technichly, for this. While you can do that, alot of the time its obvious it doesnt fit together. For example, there is a LARGE and obvious draw from WWII with the designs, there is ALOT about Zeon which reflects the nazis, the uniforms have an influence, as well as the designs of some of the things, the names, and the weapons (many of them being taken straight from wwii, if you watch the video, the Zaku bazooka is quite the same as a us bazooka, the Ric Dom’s bazooka is clearly a panzerschrek. If you look at the figures, they bear a resemblence to British commandos, with the berets (there north western european divisions)
As you said Karl, the design does look like an almagamation of a few diffrent tanks, if you watch the epi linked, they reference that. Its an Earth Federation Tank, the our timeline, and the timeline in the series divulges sometime after the moon landing, and that only being with the scientific discoveries involving space travel and such, it lends that at one point, after the governments of earth formed one government (EF, Earth Federation) that designs were mixed to create, as they say in the series, a variation that completly outclasses it’s predecessor, and its the 5th form of it, quite like we have multiple forms of our vehichles now. They give rhyme and reason for the majority of the designs they have for this series, its not necesserially done whilly nilly, as some series do.
By the way, I <3 you for linking me to Ms Igloo 2, I have been searching forever to find that online, though, I miss the opening music from the first
I assume you mean the Gp 02b that was stolen by Anavel Gato. Im sure you realised it by watching, but it was so big because it was a nuke/anti nuke unit, not meant for combat. If you like big mechs, check out http://www.bakuc.com/modeler/vic01/3158
Sorry, I didn’t mean the gundam.
The zeon guys had 3 mobile suits when they were attacking the base on earth, only the gundam got away. I meant the second one that got destroyed, it was dark blue in the anime, and it glides around instead of walking. Had a huge cannon.
