I am currently putting together a small diorama with a Sd.kfz 2 Kettenkrad, and I wanted to give it a little trailer to pull. There’s a cute little tag-along pop gun included in Italeri’s German Tank Accessory Kit #6424. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what it is. Can anyone share their infinite wisdom, and enlighten me before I go crazy and return to building cars! (not). Thanks to all you modeling wizards![bow]
Is it the 2.8 cm Panzerbusche gun on wheels? If it is. it was a primitive early AT gun that I believed fired tungsten shells. Some saw their way to 250 halftracks as well. Don’t know much more.
No the Puppchen was a 88mm with rocket like projectiles, I believe.
This gun had a tapered barrel that was starting at 28mm and was going down to 20mm at the muzzle. The principle is that you still have the same propellant pressure, with a barrel that gets more restrictive. The projectile was also getting progressively smaller. The kinetic energy and velocity of the projectile was therefore enhanced.
It could penetrate 3,4 in of armor at 200m. That really good considering the size and weight of this weapon.
You are the man!![bow]. I do believe that the 2.8cm panzerbusche 41 is the item in the 6424 kit.(less the wheels). I cannot thank all you guys enough for solving this mystery for me. I can at least look for proper reference pics to enhance this little jewel. I almost certain there are no aftermarket etch for it.
I now know why you guys model armor…it’s just way too much fun!! I just finished the Sd.kfz 232 8Rad from Tamiya. Might post it someday. Thanks again.
FYI…I did in fact find a photo-etch set for the 2.8cm panzerbusche 41 gun. Aber made a set for the Dragon kit #6132 Sd.kfz 250/251 w/panzerbusche 41. I am not sure if it is OOP or not. Aber #35086.
