Does anyone have a good technique for building realistic looking bloomers for 5",6"and 8" guns? I build in 1/96 and currently have a 1/96 Baltimore class CA under construction and plan to start a Brooklyn class CL in a few months. Thanks
If you’re talking about the “blast Bags” that shield the gun crew from the flash off of power, there is a good technique written up in the “How to build Plastic Ship Models” by Les Wilkins. It’s tissue paper with diluted white glue. Do you have the booklet? If not I’ll copy the section and mail it or fax it to you.
PM me at jbgroby@charter.net
In that scale you can probably do them in Milliput
Thank you for your reply. The tissue paper is one of the many experiments I have tried. I found an article on Steel Navy that appears to be a very good idea although it requies some special work on the barrels, but doable. Thanks again for the offer to copy the article.
