Grumman Avenger

Well guys did something a little different
A friend of mine sent me a Linburg 1/72 kit
so I did this one OOB
just so I could practice with my airbrush

Cool - nice work. That’s the one you were telling me about earlier, isn’t it?

Those decals look like they’ve suffered a bit from yellowing - it looks like an old kit - am I right?

Really Old kit , the decals were a bit yellow[(-D][(-D]
but it was just a fun build
the good thing about the kit was the fit , and I have to say fantastic
makes a change from all the jets that I do

It’s a good job the fit was good, as you’d have lost all that raised rivet detail if you’d had to putty & sand. Then you’d be in trouble!

Practice makes perfect [;)]

That’s what this hobby is all about!
I love Avengers…thanks for posting the pics!

Heya Seanrgb4,

Looks good. Looks like you still bristle brushed the demarcation between the uppper and lower colors… old habits die hard huh lol. What kinda ab you use. I can see from the pics that you painted the upper colors first the lower. Usually its the other way around because of the covering power of the darker color. I can see also where you tried to cover the lighter color demarcation line with the bristle brush some over spray, some big droplets there. I would suggest that you mix your paints thinner. I always start near 50/50 when I am. I use a sheet of evergreen for testing and add more paint or thinner as I need before I spray the model.

Looks good and once you get a handle on it youll never look back.

Nice -
The fit does look good.

Nice job on an ancient kit. Now you should be all pumped up for the Trumpeter 1/32 Avenger [:)].

Regards, Rick

Cheers Guys
Woodbeck : the airbrush i have is a el-cheepo $12 badger ,
I Did spray the top 1st , and did brush the lower half
( I’ll have to find that spy camera) [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]
i didn’t use any thinners though [:(],
but next time I will ( Got to )
But overall i enjoyed doing this one
and I found an old Bearcat [:D] to pratice on
mind you i got to find some decals 1st [:(]

Those old kits are great for practicing air brush techniques or paint mixing formulas.
Good work on the old TBM (or F).
