Group build question ?

Hate to ask stupid questions , but not sure I understand how a group build works. Can I get a brief explanation. Not sure if I want to get sucked into the “black hole” of group builds[:D]. thanks guys

It is just a group of guys building a kit along a common theme. For example, the tank destroyer build folks are all building some sort of TD. There are usually some type of “rules” and a start/end point.

You’ll notice that I’ve updated the group build guide for 2005, my apologies for letting that thread wither on the vine without updates.

Group builds can be fun, but they can also end up running your modeling life. I have a rule…I only participate in one group build at a time…in this instance, I’m building in the Russian armor Group build. It’s a great way to share resources, ask questions, and get help on a specific subject. It’s a virtual ‘think tank’ (no pun intended) where everyone is on the same page at the same time.

must…join…every…group…build…[:P]

thanks for answering (warning me)my question. sounds like something I might want to try .(sure i will) Unless its a marine corp theam?

Thanks for that Jeff. I don’t know what the rules are for putting a GB in the GB guide but there are a few you didn’t put there (yet??).

Pz I GB, Mad Leopard Week and Tank Destroyer GB are three I can think of right now (mostly because I signed up for them [:0]).

Mad Sherman Week is also proposed but I don’t know how for sure it is.

I love the group builds because it motivates me to get the kits off my closet shelves and get them built. It’s also nice because we can share problems and techniques with others that are building the same kits. Also we can help each other with the research for detail or inaccuracies, give advice and pass info along such as who has the aftermarket tracks in stock that we’re looking for. Fun stuff! [:D]
