Group Build idea!

With more and more guys here attempting scratch-building, I was wondering if we could get a scratchbuild GB together.

I kinda like the idea of a 2 or 6/8 legged walker/fighter with either a crew of 1 or 2. Something retro style, should be hardcore looking.

Maybe something along the lines of taking a Apache/Cobra Cockpit or similar, attaching 2 legs and engine and some weapons.

Anybody interested?

Actually I posted a simular post a couple of weeks ago, and if I remember well, you were the only one who replied to it.

I sure hope you’ve got better luck than I had. If you would extend to also flying stuff (spaceships/fighter) I would sure love to participate. But since (as you know) I’m currently working on a walker, I won’t be doing another one in some time.

Dany

Dany.

Not a problem, yes, I remember the post.

I am thinking this time original concepts/designs, but I think it will be doomed like the other thread was.
Now if I would propose another ST build I guess we would get pleny of responses. [;)]

How about a walker/fighter combination like they had in Lazyner??
Will try to get hold of a pic of the design I got in mind, but think I will have to scan from a reference book.

MM that would be cool. Just one small problem…my plate is a bit full[sigh] Maybe next time.

Matt

No start time set as yet, just putting some feelers out.
My plate is also full at the moment, was thinking maybe after the Ground Assult GB.

Which would give people time to get the designs finished and source for materials. Personally I am leaning towards 1/35 or bigger scale myself.

I would like to attempt this, I have a crazy idea to scratchbuild a Mecha from Front Mission 4 based on the Gust 500 chassis. I am also busy, and may be tied up with retraining into a new career field in the Air Force shortly. Keep me updated on this, as I’m going to get into scratchbuilding eventually.

I’m up for it MM, but just not made up designs. There isn’t much discipline in that, at least IMO.

Full scratchbuild, no kitbashing and I am in. I think Ground Assault goes until June, so I can squeeze it in.

Hatewall.

I am fine with full scratchbuild not sure about the others. I got a few designs in my head that I want to do. Also got most of the materials at home(Wires, rods, metal tubing, springs, etc).

Never really enjoyed scratchbuilding/kitbashing existing designs. Still undecided if i should do 1/35 or 1/24scale(Pilot/Driver I will mod an existing figure).

Question how to you feel about using kit-parts to make masters for parts of the build.

Thinking of something along this lines:

Scale: 1/35 or bigger must have fully visible cockpit for 1 or 2 persons(figures).
Dimensions: cannot be taller than lets say 4 or 5 metres in real life.
Weaponry: anything goes
Can be done with either 2/6/8 legs
Should look retro and hardcore(ie no sleek designs, lots of hardware, rivets, etc visible)

How about it??

I guess it would be pretty fun to just let go and make something crazy up.

Agreed, would be fun to see the strange designs that people can come up with.

ok, I’m in

Sorry, I’m out if these guidelines apply.

Naturally, your choice. Till the end of June (Ground Assault GB) I am stuck with doing solely kits and existing designs(maybe as much as 2~4 kits a month).

I will need a break on something different than and thought it might make a fun GB for the guys here. Yep, it will be a challenge.

My current design idea is something along a 6-legged walker, with pilots sitting in front in Cobra/Apache style configuration, missille launcher & gun turret behind the cockpit, gun under the cockpit and also rear-firing gun.

Similar to a resin kit I build a few years ago.

should allow any scale

Any scale is fine I guess.

BTW, what ClumsyModeler wanted to do is not a Walker but a big human controlled robot.

I think I’ll be in, but I would need some pics to get an idea about that “retro look”.

Kinda difficult can be along the lines of SF3D or something like the following:

I kinda like the mechanical hardcore look, like something was build to fulfill a purpose and not for looks.

FYI, the above pics were posted by a forum member.

Did somebody say sf3d??? Thats me! But, Im not very good at total scratch build, Im more kitbash.
I kinda liked the idea of the armored fighting suit type GB MM and I were throwing around but the restrictions were too much for some and it sorta fizzeled out.
Im nearly finished with my Gans! I have to tone down the camoflage and weather it, hopefully I`ll have some pics soon.
I do have parts fron a krote that i was building for a space type gans.

And I do have that skinhead2 I wanted to start on, but I was saving it for a GB, the skinhead would be on two legs with a pilot and with weapons, about 3 meters tall, made from a Gustav and a SAFS mit panzerfaust fully armored. but I dont know if that qualifies in y`alls guidelines?

I dunno, I may still be willing to play in this one, but I’m going to have to get out the old pencil and pad and draw to get some inspiration for it. I just can’t get around the “open cockpit” rule. I mean, we don’t have our tank commanders go into battle in a tank with reactive armor by sticking their fleshy bits where the enemy’s small arms fire can kill them, why would someone in a battlearmor go out with their fleshy bits flaying in the wind?

If we can change the rules to state an open OR armored cockpit, but it requires interior detailing, then I’d be game. Thoughts?
