What I think is the most beautiful variant, the Mk XIVc. The Academy kit,1/48th, OOB except for some Eduard belts. Comments always welcome.

I agree, it’s the prettiest of the Spitfires…
BUT…
When did you get into my house to photograph it?!?!
I finished this one about a year ago!! We can just chalk it up to great minds think alike!!
Jeff
Nice looking Spit Steve
Thad
Looks beautiful Steve… great job on the invasion stripes!!
What color do you use on the int??? Looks much lighter then what I have done in the past (not looking for the pics at this second).
Nice how the sky band is in conjuction with the lage stripes… very nice.
Jeff
Very nice build Steve. The camo & invasion stripes are very well done. My only critique from looking at the pics is that it appears that you used US Interior Green in the cockpit rather than the British Interior Grey Green. Compare yours to the pic posted by Jeff , which is in the correct color. Overall though a great build.

Now I know how two women feel when they show up at a party wearing the same dress…

Steve, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to steal your thunder!! It’s a great looking model!! I just thought it was funny they were almost identical, even the same camera angles!!
Jeff
Jeff,
Please…don’t misunderstand, I think it’s kind of hilarious…ergo my comments…believe me , my ego isn’t that fragile, no need to apologize…
Steve
Ok, I just hope you’re not working on one in 1/32 scale!!
I started cutting last night, Hasegawa’s Mk V with a Paragon XIVc conversion and new “universal” wings.
Chances are it’ll be in the same markings as ours, since this is the only XIVc I can document with full D-Day stripes.
Jeff
Steve, that is one great looking Spit. Very nice job on the paint and the cockpit looks great also.
Hey Rick,
Thanks for pointing out the cockpit color thing, I’m an armor guy at heart so I tend not to do as much homework when I build these wingy thingies…just a diversion to rest up until I can get back to “real” modeling…AFV’s![:)]
Regards,
Steve
Great looking Spit Steve. I have a tank to do soon and it will be my first. I will see how I feel about the “diversion” when I am done. Good thing is the inteiror is white so I wno’t have to worry about getting the shade right.[;)][:D]
Great build good work on a beautiful aircraft.
Great looking Spit Steve, nice job [tup].
Did you paint the invasion stripes or are they kit decals?
Cheers
Hey Darren,
The invasion stripes are the kit decals…but, I had to spray over the white bands because the decals are paper thin and the read through made the white bands rather dull. By the way, these decals were… terrible. I think I must have used a half bottle of solvaset. They are large sections and very thin, so they tend to wrinkle and fold over.

Steve
Great Looking Spit Steve[tup][tup][tup] I’ve got a MK V on the go at the moment btu i have to paint those invasion stripes on, the Tamiya kit didn’t come with decals…
