"Greyhound" WWII Movie with Tom Hanks

I wanted to see if anyone had a chance to view this film yet? It was supposed to be in theaters on July 10th, but they released it to Apple TV since the theaters remain closed.

If anyone has Apple TV, let us know.

Meanwhile, I figure it will be on pay per view soon, what with the pandemic and all.

I have seen it, and I thought it was so-so. It seemed to be lacking something, but I can’t put my finger on what.

Otherwise I think it was a in interesting subject, and think it is worth a viewing.

I watched a few trailers. Love the boomdiddybooms.

Good flick - it’s on Apple TV+ which you can trial for 7 days free (just remember to cance [:P] ). Pretty tense movie from start to finish and as I have not read or studied anything on surface ships combating submarines I found it very interesting - tactics that seem crazy. I reccomend watching this one for sure. Especially given the fact that we don’t get many war movies out of Hollywood - gotta thank Hanks for his interest in history. We’ve had a few lately which I find refreshing - only so much rom-com one can watch [:|]

Just what I was planning to do. [:D]

I must admit, this has me wishing to see a remake of “The Enemy Below”, though I doubt it would be as good as the original.

There is another thread on this topic started when the movie was released to Apple TV

Hi;

I know this is a late response to what your said in the Greyhounds thread. I watched " Captain Phillips" There may have been some truthful moments. I am not one to criticize.

Well much anyway. Tom Hanks to me was flat in this one. AND bridge action even without Pirates is busier than what was portrayed. I have NEVER captained a " Box Ship" but seems to me there wasn’t enough crew action going on. They all have work hours. I would also imagine they are supposed to be checking tension on those boxes regularly. After all, the ship moves and flexes constantly. Phillips may have been a reserved guy like Air Travel’s Captain " Sully" but somehow it was almost boring.
