I have been getting back into modeling for a couple years now. I used to do it when I was younger, but I didn’t get back into it until I was in college. I’ve built several different kits over the past few years, all to varying degrees of success. I typically enjoy working on historic space craft, military aircraft, some sci fi and pop-culture, and the occasional ship. Every once in awhile, I’ll do a car. Currently, I’m working on a kit of the USS Constitution. I’ve never done a sailing ship before, so this could get interesting.
As for my skill level, even though I have improved since I got back into the hobby, I’m still a rookie… especially when it comes to painting (which is part of the reason I shy away from things like military ground vehicles). The devil really is in the details [bnghead]. Haha. Advice is always welcome. Thanks!
I’ve been building for 67 of my 73 years and build whatever strikes my fancy. I’ve done a few sailing ships as you can see from my avatar. If you ever need any help, just go to the Ship Forum. There are lots of great, knowledgeable guys, and gals there that are ready, willing and able to help you with any questions or problems. They’d love to see pics of your builds.
It’s great to have you join us here Mountaineer. Just have fun and enjoy yourself. With the level of skill and talent the folks around here will share with you, you can’t help but improve immensely.
Welcome to the Forum! You’ve got a broad range of interests and you’ll find plenty of people here who share many of them with you. Remember to post pics and like Eagle said, don’t be afraid to ask questions.
