Greetings and salutations

My name’s Jay. I’m 45, live on a small island in Lake Erie year round (Kelleys Island), get partial disability and am care taker for my elderly parents’ properties (this house and a rental condo). I have an LLC cleaning rental properties during the season, and work from home for a company called E-CHX, Inc.

I built models as a kid growing up in the last 70’s and wanted to get back into it.

Specifically I have Monogram kits of the Ford Tri Motor in Island Airways colors (used to serve this and other islands here, and I got to ride on it before it was retired, sold to a collector, flown to Florida in time to be destroyed by hurricane Andrew).

I would also like to start building car modes, mostly classic sports cars that my dad owned and drove. Possibly erecting dioramas of them and entering into contests at car shows.

Hi Jay, welcome to the forums. I think we have a pretty active auto site here with a good group to help you out as you need it. I am mostly Sci-Fi but dip my brush into almost anything once in awhile.

Hi Jay welcome to the forums [snWcm]

There is a nice car scetion on here and anything else you want to venture into.

Welcome to the Forums Jay! Glad to have you aboard.

As others have said, we have a great auto section. The members there are always ready to help out with any questions/problems that you might have. Don’t be afraid to ask. We’ve all been there at one time or another. I’ve been building for 71 of my 77years and I’ve learned a lot from the members here. I’m still learning.

I build whatever strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK.[;)] Faves are WWI & WWII planes and also sailing ships. Just started learning how to use an airbrush and Acrylic paints a few years ago. Now, I wouldn’t build without them.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the hobby. Oh, don’t forget to post pics of your builds.

Welcome to the Forums.

Howdy Jay !

Welcome to the FSM forum.

Man I bet it’s tough to get away from the wife’s "TO DO " list when you can only run in a circle.

Welcome aboard.

Yeah, don’t have one of those.

But as groundskeeper for my elderly parents’ properties (2000 sq. foot Cape Cod on a half acre lot with about 150’ of shoreline and a rental condo there’s plenty to do. My 84 year old prediabetic father, who doesn’t know he shouldn’t be doing things, like going up ladders to clean gutters or trying to mow that much with a handmower, and my 80 year old mother doesn’t know when she should ask for help, and turning over a 2 bedroom 2 bath rental at least weekly is a lot of work. Cleaning and laundry is enough work for one person, then she insists on starching and ironing bedsheets and other extras that I don’t think people notice) I generally stay busy.

And believe it or not, there are plenty of places I could hide.

Welcome, Jay Bones. Kelley’s Island is nice, can’t imagine spending winter’s up there tho. Few years back saw and heard the god awful sound of a TriMotor flying over the house heading up to Port Clinton. Enjoy the forum!

Funny, I was talking about that plane with an older cousin who grew up here about that plane. We both agreed it was noisy cold uncomfortable and slow.

And those radial engines sound is music to some ears…

Welcome to FSM Forums!
