I’m considering buying this kit. I know there was a lot of talk about it earlier and I’ve done a search and can’t find threads on it.
Has anyone here built it? I’ve read reviews online and there doesn’t seem to be any major problems with the kit.
Is there anything I should know about it?
I believe the AM companies issued replacement cowlings for the kit which tells me Great Wall musta jacked them…There was also some discussion about the nose piece being wrong but I think Great Wall fixed that (guess complaining sometimes does make a difference)…
I haven’t seen any build blogs either, which is odd since it was greatly anticipated…based on what I know from other Great Wall kits I think you can expect “Dragon-like” quality, parts fit, and detail with a higher price tag…
I’ve never built a Dragon kit, can I compare it to Tamiya?
No, I’d say that Dragon has generally better detail because of a higher part count at the expense of sometimes being a bit more of a challenge in the building aspect…in other words, parts may not fit quite as well and sometimes the instructions are inacurate…
…having said that, IMO Dragon/Great Wall kits are by no means unreasonably difficult or poor fitting and Dragon is probably my favorite model company overall…
