Great! New 1/48 UH-1N Coming Out With Decals for SAR Version (NAS Fallon).....but Where’s the Longhorn Decal?

There is a new kit by KittyHawk; and yes, it had the Fallon SAR version of the UH-1N Huey which was great! However, on the decal sheet shown in a video review, I could not locate the longhorn decals. Maybe they’re representing a “non-longhorn-markings” version; but if I did one, I would want to do the longhorn version (please see pics below)…

Where on earth do I get the Longhorn decal?! [:D]

Pic 1: (Longhorn on nose)…

Fireball Modelworks used to offer decals for the NAS Fallon HH-1Ns that included the Longhorn decal. I am not sure they are still available though. His site doesn’t show them any longer.

If you are referring to the nose decal, that looks simple enough to make. Just need decent art.

Try Squadron here in Texas.

Mebbe they have something .Or do your own .

Thanks, guys. Fireball Modelworks doesn’t make that set anymore unfortunately… I’ve never made my own decals before. How do you design the longhorn just right and then get it to be 1/48? Then there’s the problem of printing white decals. Is there someone/some company who’d make custom decals for me for a reasonable price?

I’d get a sheet of white decal material, check out Texas for small logos and play with it

Thanks, goldhammer. I found an old Huey picture with an easy to see longhorn on its nose. Maybe I could use that. How would I get it to 1/48 scale?

I think I’d measure the width of the model nose, put the pic in photoshop and adjust the width of the nose in the pic to that width, then print it out and use that as the pattern.

Someone else may have a better thought on it.

Is there a free computer program I should get for adjustments and prep? If so, which one?

Just sent you a private message.

John,

I gave up trying to post photos on the messenger function. Here are the decals we’ve been talking about:

That’s great! Thank you!

That looks like a great kit. I’ll keep my eyes out for that one. Thank you for posting this info.

You’re welcome. It is good that they are comin’ out with it!
