Here are some progress shots of the car I have been working on for a little while now. This is a replica ( as much so as I can replicate ) of one of my grandfathers NASCARS he raced in the first year that NASCAR ran. The actual one in the photo is a 39 Ford as I found out the otehr day and the model is the Revel 40 Ford. No real difference in the 2 years except that one was heavier according to my grandmothers brother. I am hopeing to get this done by next weekend to give to my dad, looks like I better get busy. I am applying some of the tecniques that I have learned from building armor the last 6 months and having fun for once not worrying about trying to get a showroom look. Let me know what you think , I’m always open to comments.
Here is pic of the real one, this is the only ref pic I have so some things are guess work and from talking to family that also worked on the car with my grandfather. There is a pic of it upside down that my grandmother has. Thats why my grandfather said he had the # 69, so they could still tell who it was upside down!

Looks GOOD Chris! I like the way you did the pics in B&W to match the original.
Actually they are color. Escept for the original which is a color pic of a B&W pic, if that makes any sense. I did take pics of the first one I built in B&W and thought they looked better. They are at this link http://www.geocities.com/lizardqing/irene.html. It was a quick build that I had to rush to try and give to him for his birthday but he passed away the week before. Always wanted to do a more accurate potrayel of one of his cars ever since then. Thats what the current build is hopefully going to be when it’s done.
Looking good Chris, can’t wait to see it finished.

lookin great Chris!!! Can’t wait to see it finished!!!
Great looking build, Chris. I’m sorry to hear he passed away before you had the chance to give it to him. Looking forward to seeing pics of the completed kit.

Thanks guys. Finally got the little sucker together, held back real hard from throwing it across the room a time or two. If you build this particular kit, do not put on the running boards and rear wheel wells before you get the interior in. I put them on before i painted it and the tub will not go if they are on, especially the running boards. I should have the completed pics up in the next couple of days just need to do some additional weathering and it’ll be ready to go out the door on Sun.
