Graf Zeppelin Aircraft Carrier site

hey all,

my new Graf Zeppelin website is up and running. i’ve finished the homepage and working on the 3 photo galleries, the first of which is up now. sorry, no detailed captions yet, but soon

http://www.geocities.com/grafzeppelintrager/index.html

tell me what you think.

best regards,

joe

Very nice, there aren’t many pages about Graf Zeppelin, it will be a good contribution to the ship.
I’ve added your page to my site list, i will wait until its done, to see more.
Good work.

thanks, it’s far from finished of course, the main menu hasn’t even been fully loaded yet, and the history isn’t quite finished yet.

lots to do,

stay tuned,

joe

Great start, Joe,
I’m looking forward to watching it grow as you get more materials together. Don’t forget to dig up some of those folding-wing Stuka torpedo bombers, too. Talk about the Avenger’s alter-ego! Maybe I can whip up a sketch for you …

IIRC, the Soviets salvaged the hull and took it back to one of the Baltic states and tried to finish building the carrier. This is a what if statement, but imagine the Zeppelins air arm protecting the Bismarck as she was attacking commerce ships?

hey all,

yes, i do have quite an extensive archive of Graf Zeppelin materials. the reason it’s not on the site yet is because of pure lazyness. acutaly i just havn’t had the time to get it all up. but soon

thanks for your interest guys,

joe

I too am impressed so far with your site. I’ve always been interested in the Graf Zeppelin and you just don’t see enough about the ship. Keep up the good work! And don’t get too lazy, the rest of us are depending on your hard work so we will have another interesting site to visit!!

hey all,

i have just finished the photo galleries and captions for the GZ site, take a look

Very nice website Joe.

Nice site Joe, the “bulges” you refer to are called “sponsons”.

hey therriman,

yes, i know they are called sponsons but i was trying not to use terms that would be too technical. but you’re not the first person to point that out to me, so i’m going to change it. “sponsons” will read better than “bulges” anyway. thank you for your input.

if anyone else sees anything that could be changed or fixed please let me know. also, if anyone has any information, diagrams, pictures, or anything else for that matter pertaining to Graf Zeppelin please let me know

thanks for all your help guys,

joe

I’m glad you cleared that up, I was looking for anti-torpedo bulges that weren’t really there. Great website, I especially liked the title page design. Is the history section functional yet? I couldn’t get it to come up.

hey subfixer,

unfortunetly the history section isn’t finished yet. ( mainly because i havn’t written it yet LOL)

i have several resources to draw from so it should be a very detailed account. i am working on obtaining drawings of the ship for the site as well. it shouldn’t be too much longer and the main bulk of the information will be viewable. there will also be a few more menu items but i’ve been lazy and havn’t added them yet. stay tuned, i have a lot of stuff to add yet

best regards,

joe

I’ve got a few fotos of GZ, some aren’t on your web site. I dont know if you have them or not.
