Just spent the last 2hrs reading the b-17 group build forum, I got the itch to start my fort tonite. I collected 1/48 b-17 resin/decals/acces for the last 15yrs. Time to knock one out. Think I’m gonna build the f model but was shocked to see it for 42 bucks online. Huh no way not today not ever for that basic 17. I do however have a f model I built back in high school (around 89) guess I’ll crack her open and get started. Pics soon.
It might be easier to buy a G model and back date it to an F. Just saw the discussion about that on the B-17 group build and it doesn’t sound too difficult.
Depends on what F nose configuration that you are looking for as there were many between the blocks, even a chin turret at BO-100+. It would be easier to use the F for an early one, but good to use the G for a later F with cheek guns. You would have to find a pointed F/early G nose as the nose was changed to allow more elevation for the chin turret.
