Been poking around trying to find some good books to pick up, so far am seeing ones from Osprey (NV25), Tank Power (#VI and #X), and Panzer Tracts (#15-2).
Any opinions on the usefulness of these books, or any additions to the list I should be considering? Thanks fellas! [:D]
Osprey makes two good books on the 251: one is from their Vanguard series covering the historical aspects; the other is their model builder’s guide…Squadron also has a good “In action” book on it…
Does the “In Action” book cover a lot of the different variants?
Basically, I’m in the early stages of planning a massive halftrack build…thinking of attempting one of each of the 251 variants, and need something that covers all (or at least a good majority) of them. I’m guessing I’ll need several tomes, but figured I should start with the good ones. [8D]
That Panzer Tracts you’re talking about is actually two volumes - one for the earlier variants, one for the later. I have the eariler one, covering (I think) up until the early Ausf. C variants. It’s full of pics and other material from wartime German manuals, etc. I highly recommend it.
Ya know, I was thinking about something similar myself. I have about 6 of them in the stash, and was looking for an excuse to build them all at once (well close to it, anyway). Maybe we should do something like a limited kind of group build.
Sadly, I only have ONE of them in the stash…so far! But there’s just something about them that gets me, and I have this odd desire to build them all. [alien] I think for me though, that they won’t be all at the same time…or I’d end up in the loony bin. [D)]
