Good raised panel line kit

Modelers, I’m looking for a kit that I can pratice on scribing panel lines from a raised panel line kit. I’d like to just pick one up at Wal-Mart or something that will, at the very least, have decent fit. Anyone know of something off the top of their head?

I guess I could run to Wal-Mart and write down a few they have then report here…

At my wally world they had revell’s P-51, P-40, P-47, F-14, and SR-71. All build into decect kits but boy is there alot of filling and sanding. All have panel lines raised about 3 feet. I have built all of them more than once and I have to say the P-40 is the worst, fit wise. But hey, you can’t go wrong if you tear up an 8 dollar kit.

Airfix Spitfire MkI[?]

Hi there Bones, if you’re into early jets at all, I’d suggest the revell-Monogram F-84F (very good fit except maybe the canopy) or F-100, both in 1/48th. The F-100 especially will benefit a lot from rescribing, and will make a fine model. Fit is good with some sanding around the nose probably necessary. Both kits shouldn’t break the bank, but the Revell F-84F may be somewhat hard to get stateside? (I live in Europe)
Good luck and have fun!

Hey Bones;
You might want to try EvilBay for Cheap kit that are older (production wise) with raised panel lines, I’ve seen alot of Monograms, Airfix’s, AMT’s on Evilbay that where starting for around $5.00 to 10.00, but I gotta warn you the shipping may kill you

bones, if you want a kit that you can practice the filling and sanding as well i agree the p-40 kit is one that will give you plenty of practice. the panel lines are a real challenge. the fit is (at least the one i am working on) horrible. the interior detail is nonexistant. but at $8 it is not a big worry if you tear it up.
