Good News & Bad News

I’ve long waited for a 1/48 injection molded kit of the Grumman F11F Tiger. The good news is that the kit has been announced. [:D].

The bad news is that it’s being released by Fonderie Miniatures [:(][V].

Regards, Rick

why is that bad?

[(-D][BH] Mixed news indeed Rick. Good luck with that!!

Ever tried to build an FM kit ?

Regards, Rick

Not yet, but now that I have the proper tools and a case of Squadron Green… maybe…

How appropriate Steve. Sad but True.

Rick & Steve,
Ouch!!! I get the impression that you don’t like kits from this company. I don’t recognize the name. What kits have they released?

Too funny, Steve. I would hope nothing would ever call for that much Squadron Green tho’.

Yardbird78, you can find a list of Fonderie Miniatures Kits @ Hannants or Fonderie Miniatures Kits @ Squadron.com.

They started making French subjects of long awaited planes like Alizés but they are very badly molded and very expensive, so the question is : why do they behave like that ? a fellow modeler had a theory: to be the first ones to make this or that; but making crap is not a solution, and they are not the first ones as most of these kits were made long ago, and well made, by Solido and Heller, in 1/50 scale. If you think you can’t stand without one of those planes, try to find Solido or old Heller, difficult to find, basic interiors, but fit well and plastic is strong.
In fact, we had and still have good modeling companies ( look at the Signifer Goose, for instance) but I fear those guys (F.M.) don’t belong to the same category.

To funny Steve…[:p][:p][;)]. I am not to thrilled that this long awaited kit is coming out by them either[:(]
I see retail price is about $75…[xx(] Now if only Tamiya or Hasegawa were reading this…hehehe
Flaps up, Mike

ahhh i see the point I think.

i nothing of FM kits, but Steve’s explanation is too funny!!![tup][(-D]

I’d put money on the latter, myself… [;)]

I was hoping that at least Grand Phoenix might do a Tiger, after the Fury & Demon releases. Maybe there is still hope.

Regards, Rick

Yes, I too have my fingers crossed for another company to come out with one. In the mean time, there is always scratch building.

Steve-o: LOL…couldn’t have said better myself.

Scratch building wouldprobably be easier & cheaper than trying the FM kit [:)].

Regards, Rick

DANG!!! i’m gonna just have to blow some money on one of this FM kits. morbid curiousity i guess.[:)] later.

Chris, Blow your money is closer to the truth than you know. They are really poor kits.

Regards, Rick

Does this mean I should look so forward to that Halifax?

Only if you like paying $100 or so for a piece of crud.
