Hello,
I’m in a national guard enginering unit and would like to build a model of a M113A2 in 1/35 or 1/72 to represent one of our’s. Could you all give me some suggestions on who makes a good kit for this?
ive heared the best one is the Academy M113 but that might just be the Vietnam type?
Tamiya do a A2
heres the review of the Tamiya M113A2 kit

there will be someone else that know about the best M113
Academy’s M113s are the best. All of them (except the M981 and M163) come with full interiors, to include engine compartment with US/IDF versions, and lots of extras. Their M113A2 can be built many different ways and gives you your best bang for the buck. They are much more crisply molded and nicer than the Tamiya one as well.
They have an M113A1, Vietnam:
M113A2:
M981 FISTV:
M163A1 Vulcan:
And even a K200 KIFV (Korean Inf Fighting Vehicle):
And 2 IDF kits, that can build into three versions,
M113A2 IDF Zelda:
Can also be built into Commo Vehicle (left in below photo):
M113A2 IDF Fitter vehicle:
Here is a brief review of the different M113 kits out there for you to decide from as well:

Happy modeling. (as you can tell, I am a big fan of the Academy M113s)
thanks alot for the info…now i have to figure out how to paint it so it looks like its spent the last 20 years being used, abused and left out in a new england winter.[:D]
Does anyone have a M577 that they want to sell me? I would like to do one…
Wow! That was a pretty comprehensive run-down of the M113’s HeavyArty. I’ve considered getting an IDF M113 but have always put it off. I particularly like the commo version. I think I’ll order it. [:D] Many thanks.
Jim
