Good idea ????

On my current build (Italeri) I have a decal sheet with quite a large unused area.

My question is, can I use my ink-jet to print on this area and if I do, can I hope for any kind of satisfactory result?

Obviously I`m not the first person to have thought of this, so has anyone in our midst tried it?

Sorry Spitfire but no. You need special inkjet compatible paper for home made decals.
When I get back home to London I always pop into Hannants or the London Graphics Centre who both sell such paper.Make sure you get the inkjet and not the laser. Any good art or graphics shop should have it or can order it for you.

Meteorprod.com handles some very good decal paper in small packages for ink jet printers.

The other problem is th unused area has no carrier film. You’d be printing on paper with no way to transfer it to you model.
Another option you have is to buy regular decal paper and have the image you want printed by a color laser printer at your local Staples/Office-Max. Just remember, they don’t have white in the system so you’ll eithe need white decal sheet which you’ll have to carefully trim or paint the decal area white first.

Perhaps I should rename the thread as , not a good idea. Thanks to all of you for your input.
