I remember when I first started modeling I only did cars. Then I did armour, then aircraft. And now I’m starting to do figures.
‘full circle’
One day you will build a car again completing the cycle. I am doing the exact same thing in a more random style with a few kits on the go right now.
‘never say never’’
Helping clean out the girlfriends place I found a Revell 1/570 scale Titanic kit! This for me will mark the full 360 degrees of my model building.
When I started, I did aircraft - about midway through I was onto aircraft & now I do - yes, aircraft.
I have done cars, bikes, tanks, boats, even a hovercraft, but these have all been one or two, although I have done a few helicopters. It’s not that I dont like other stuff, it’s just that I love aircraft so much & there are so many to do. Although some day I would love to do a large jet carrier, like a 1/350 Enterprise or Nimitz class.
I seem to do the same thing. I build a few planes then a few cars. Then if I feel froggy I will build some armor. But I still like planes the best.
You gonna change your screen name then?[:D]
Jets are still my favorite.[ap]
I build armor, but keep going thru an aircraft phase. Recently I said I was going to put a freeze on armor and focused on planes. So I upped my stash to 10 planes and have yet to finish one. After going to a recent model show, I got bit by the armor bug again, and finished up a couple of WIP’s. I still intend to finish those planes though.
Jet - I think we all have gone through some kind of building phase. I started young with the Aurora model club, one kit a month for a year (man thats a while ago), they were mostly mixed kits. Then went on to build ships only for a long time in my youth. Then when I got back into modeling it was aircraft only, then armor. you will eventually come full circle again and wind up building a car model again. Heck If I could fine a decent model of a 69 Charger or a 66 Chevelle Id be building them now, then cry at the fact I no longer own them and realizing what they are worth today…[bnghead].
Now I try to complete an armor build then an aircraft. I have a ship staring at me and Im sure I will tackle it soon enough.
Phases are good, keeps one on his toes using different modeling techniques.
Bob
I’m a military modeler, so armor, aircraft, and figures are my mainstay, but I built a few cars back in the day, and during the time-frame where I was a gearhead, from about 14-16, I built LOTS of cars, and each one was gonna be “Mine”, when I got my license…
I started doing aircraft as a teenage.
When I was in the Army I did a lot of Warsaw Pact armor since I was in intelligence and had TONS of reference materials (this was pre-Internet).
These days I’m still largely armor; but I’m not so much opposed to doing the occasional missile or aircraft. In fact as soon as the Stryker MGS is done I’m going to motorize a 1/48 Tamiya Japanese Ki-84 “Frank” fighter. That’s gonna be my test case for motorizing a 1/48 B-29 modified into the soviet TU-4 later on in the year.
I started strictly doing WWII aircraft, but then decided I needed a change of pace. So, I added a few pieces of armor, a few modern jets and even a space shuttle. I try to build one from each category, in rotation, to keep modeling boredom from setting in.

IM IN MY “NUDE CHICK” PHASE…
