I am building the Roden He 111 E kit and the bomber area and forward gun area are all in clear plastic. I don’t want to fog up the windows so I will use Elmer’s glue. However, the clear parts will have a seam where they join and I want to sand this out.
My questions is, Elmer’s glue is not a very strong glue and the action of sanding the two parts smooth will probably weaken the joints. Is there a stronger glue that I can use that won’t fog up the windows and have enough strength for rough handeling (i.e. sanding)?
I use a super glue from bob smith industries, it doesn’t fog clear plastic. I think it is their super gold formula. But once I get home tonight I can confirm that.
From what I’ve been told from pretty good sources (I’ll be testing it in a couple days) if dip your canopies in future you can use regular model glue or super glue and not have it craze.
I use epoxy on clear plastic when I need more strength than white glue. This is especially useful for windows that need to be inserted into fuselage before closing up same. If they pop out later, say during masking, you have a real problem.
I have had fogging on plastic coated with future when using CA. What I didn’t know is that I was supposed to remove the future after the gluing. Haven’t tried that yet.
