Hello. I’m new here and I was hoping to get some help with gloss coats. For years I like most have been using Future but Ive not been very happy with it in the past few months. I know there is speculation about there having been a formula change. No matter. I’m hoping to get some ideas on alternatives that aren’t equally horrible. I tried the Alclad and dont much care for it either. Thoughts? thanks!
You could try some home paint glosses. I forgot the names but some paint companies make clear coats that are not model specialized. They’re meant for home use.
Testors Laquer Glosscoat has always worked for me.Also Vallejo makes an acylic gloss which also works pretty good.In both cases,I’m talking airbrushed.
I am a big fan of Glosscoat. I have used it for at least a quarter century. Testors often comes out with other, new gloss coatings, but they always return to the classic Glosscoat!
I keep a few others around, like a can of clear acrylic gloss, but hardly ever use it unless I find a paint that is incompatible with Glosscoat, a rare occurance.
