Gloss coat just for decal area?

I am building the Tamiya Soviet T-34/76 Tank (my first model). It is painted with Tamiya Flat Acrylic Spray paint.

I know that before I put on the decals, I need a gloss coat, after which I plan to finish with a clear flat coat. Can I put some Future on just the areas that I need to apply decals? Then apply the decals, and put a flat coat over it? Will that work? Or will it be obvious that the Future was only applied to one section?

Do I need to put a gloss coat on the entire model first?

Also, can I put an acrylic clear flat coat over future? How long should I let the future dry?

thanks for any help or input…

i have done it both ways mike just in areas for decals. but i usually do the whole model to protect the paint and once the future is dried i do my washes.

you should let the future dry for at least 24 hours to make sure it is cured depending on the conditions i have had to wait up to 48 hours for it to be dry.

i havent had any problems putting acrylic flat coat over future at all. i use MM acrylic flat

Thanks for the help. I dont have an airbrush yet, so I would have to brush on the Future (which is why I wanted to see if I could just put it on some areas.

Ill run to the store tomorrow and pick some up.

Future will reduce height of raised details. In most cases you can apply decal right onto the paint coats.
