Does anyone know anything about Glencoe?I’m chasing the Bristol Sycamore they did a few years ago and have heard conflicting stories about the company in general. Are they still releasing stuff or are early kits still available?
Cheers
Mick

Kit issue is hit or miss, small company molds are old
[:D] i just finished the xv-1,all i can say it was not a fun build, good luck.and you can still get the kits,i have a 1;15 scale mule to build, not sure if i want to.[:(]
Hi Mick,
I built the Glencoe Sycamore a few years back, got it off EBay, and I’d be happy to give you my observations.
The rivets are way oversize, which I sanded off and scribed new ones. The big chin bubble fit well and didn’t have the expected distortion, but I replaced the rest of the transparencies. The “too thick” steps were replaced by shaped wire, and the interior was dressed up by scratchbuilding. (kit has basic interior). The main struts are strong and to scale, although the front one can use some stretched spru activators. The wheels/tires are to scale. Now my favorite assembly: The Rotorhead… which is suprisingly detailed (multible piece assembly) in light of the other “in-general” parts mentioned. (the rotorhead REALLY sets-off the display) [;)]
Study reference photos.
All in all, it dresses up real nice with a little work, and makes a fine display.
Take care,
Frank
Thanks for that Frank, that info will come in handy if I can find one.I’ hoping to build as many aircraft as I can that the RAN Fleet Air Arm have flown, and the Sycamore is one of them.
Now to chase one down…
Cheers
Mick
Hi Mick,
Hope you see this if you haven’t already found one…
Take care,
Frank
Hey,Frank
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I found one just down the road as it were(well interstate-still better than international!) from a very nice gentleman in Canberra.
Thanks for the link anyway!
