My uncle served on the DD260 Glennon, which is a Gleaves class destroyer. It hit a mine off of Utah beach during D-Day which took her stern off. German shore batteries finally sank her the next day after the crew had abandoned ship. Does anyone know where I can get a model of this class of destroyer, the larger the scale the better? Or, does anyone know where I can get the information needed to scratch build one?

This last winter I did a Gleaves Class for my wifes uncle. The DD625 USS Harding.It too was at Normandy.on D-Day. I used a skywaves 1/700 kit of a Livermore Class.It has a layout for a Gleaves Class in its istructions. Also there’s a 1/350 resin kit available.Squadron has abook out about Destroyers and I think the Gleaves class is in there. Hope that helps.

Glennon is actually a Bristol Class, so you can get a Yankee Modelworks USS Tillman in her 1944 config, from what I can gather, they’re practically twins, even down to the single 20mm added to the bridge front.
The differences between the Benson/Gleaves/Bristol/Livermore class are mostly internal and machinery changes, things we don’t see.
