Now that I’ve taken part in a few groupbuilds, I am looking to add the badges to my signature. I’ve seen several people on the forums have all of their badges display a pictuer at a time in a loop- if it’s a gif, I can’t figure out for the life of me how to embed it in the signature. And if it’s not a gif… how is it done?

I use picasion.com to make the gif. Then you have to upload it to a photo hosting site. I use postimage.org.
Click on “settings” inside your profile box (upper right corner when you’re logged in). This will bring up a box. You’ll see the “insert/edit image” icon.
Copy the “direct link” of your gif, from the photo host you use, and paste it into the box labeled “source.” Hit “OK” and it should load it into your signiture.
